Our Philosophy

At Elevation Pilates, we believe Pilates exercises executed through safe and controlled movement can increase strength, stamina and stability, improve posture and diminish chronic weakness. Our goal is to progress each body by introducing the appropriate exercises and apparatus at the appropriate time, empowering you to advance in your Pilates practice and apply the PIlates principles to all your activities at home, work and play.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of body conditioning performed through a systematic series of controlled movements training the mind and body to work together. While this mindful movement targets abdominal and core muscles supporting the spine, the whole body is engaged in each exercise for a full body workout. Balance throughout the body is achieved through the rhythmic precision of each exercise focusing on centering/stabilization, control, concentration, flow/efficiency of movement, breath and precision. It’s all in the details. Mat work is the structural frame for Joseph Pilates’ Contrology Method. Apparatus such as the Reformer, Cadillac or Trapeze Table/Tower, High Chair, Wunda Chair, Barrels and Magic Circle add support, resistance and challenge to the overall practice.
